Major portfolio of Midwest, Delta, western farmland set for series of October auctions
COLUMBIA CITY, Indiana (July 1, 2014) - A major farmland portfolio of 13,468 acres - including cropland in Illinois, the Delta, Texas and Colorado - has been slated for a series of October auctions, with Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company marketing the properties and managing the auctions.
"These farms make up a substantial, diversified portfolio of productive farmland, and it is very rare to be able to obtain this much land all at once," said R.D. Schrader, president of Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company.
"With irrigated cropland in Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and Colorado, as well as two farms in Illinois, these properties provide a good mix of soil types, weather systems and crops. All have good tenants through 2014, and one of the Texas farms is leased for 2015 as well," said Schrader.
The first auction is set for Monday, Oct. 20, with the offering of two farms - 236 acres in Warren County and 419 acres in Sangamon County.
Three irrigated Delta farms will be offered Wednesday, Oct. 22. They include 1,287 acres in Chicot County, Arkansas, 1,152 acres in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, and 2,357 acres Sunflower County, Mississippi.
On Friday, Oct. 24, the focus will shift westward, with the auction of irrigated farms making up 6,054 acres in the Texas panhandle - 4,158 acres in Hartley County and 1,896 acres in Sherman County.
The final auction, set for Saturday, Oct. 25, will feature a 1,963-acre farm in Philips County, Colorado, near Holyoke.
The seller of the properties will consider contingency-free offers made to purchase the portfolio in its entirety. Offers must be received by Aug. 20.
