Seven farms in northwest Ohio set for March 15 auction
SHERWOOD, Ohio (Feb. 18) -- Seven farms with a total of approximately 459 acres in northwest Ohio will be offered at auction Tuesday, March 15, with Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company marketing the farms and managing the event.
The farms Ė all located within approximately 16 miles of Defiance Ė are being sold because of the retirement of Ben and Shirley Keil due to health reasons. They include 424 acres of FSA tillable land with productive soils, as well as six grain bins, and two large steel buildings.
"The tillable tracts range from 5.5 acres to 55 acres and are perfect for neighboring operators who can take advantage of this auction to expand their holdings. The buildings are on a 3-acre tract and include a 5,400-square-foot steel building thatís beautifully finished out and was used to store and show Mr. Keilís classic car collection. The second 5,400-square-foot building has a two-story living area as well as a shop/machine storage area," said R.D. Schrader, president of the company.
The farms will be offered in 12 tracts, and the grain bins will be offered individually in six additional tracts.
Schrader personnel will be available to provide detailed information and accommodate inspections from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at Tract 5, located at 12115 McCavit Road, Ney, Ohio, 43549.
The auction will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Fairview Elementary School, 6289 US Highway 127, Sherwood. Online bidding will be available for those who register one week before the auction.
An auction of the equipment used in the Keil operations is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 17, at 12115 McCavit Road, Ney, Ohio, 43549. Equipment will include tractors, combine, heads, planters, sprayers, tillage tools, trucks, trailers and lifts.
