Jay County land auction to feature 414 acres of contiguous farmland

Approximately 414 contiguous acres of productive farmland in Jay County -- available for immediate possession -- will be offered at auction Thursday, March 21, with Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company marketing the property and managing the sale.

The land will be offered in six tracts, ranging from 42 acres to 102 acres.
"This property has good, productive soils and is located on Wells/Jay County Line Road and west of CR 950 W. The tract sizes will provide a great deal of flexibility, either for farmers who wish to expand their operations or for investors," said R.D. Schrader, president of the auction company. "With this much contiguous acreage, it will also be attractive to larger operators seeking the entirety. But it will provide a lot of flexibility for those who may wish to purchase one or more tracts. For example, someone may wish to purchase the three tracts along Wells/Jay County Road, which would provide them with 191.5 contiguous acres and more than a half mile of frontage for easy access," he said.

Soils are primarily Pewamo, Blount and Glynwood.

Schrader personnel will be available with additional information and to answer questions from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, and Thursday, March 7. Bidding will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, at the Montpelier Civic Center in Montpelier. Online bidding will be available.
