About
Dean Retherford is a Real Estate Broker and Auction Manager with Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company, specializing in farmland auctions and listings across Indiana and Illinois. Dean Retherford grew up on an Angus cattle farm and small corn and soybean operation in Central Indiana. He exhibited livestock at the state and national level and helped his father with the grain farming operation before heading to Purdue University, where he earned a degree in Agricultural Business Management in 1989.
Dean joined Schrader in 2019 and serves as the company's Area Representative covering Northwest Indiana and Illinois. He entered the industry in 1989 and has been licensed since 1990. He began his career with Capital Agricultural Property Services (CAPS) and he is an Accredited Farm Manager through the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.

Across more than three decades in farm real estate, Dean has consistently ranked among the top producers wherever he has worked. He was the number one salesman at CAPS for his final three years there. He served as State President of the Indiana Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers in 1999 and 2000 and spent five years on its board.
"My single greatest satisfaction in this industry is helping people through issues and problems they don't have the time or experience to manage themselves," Dean says. "My clients always come first. Solving issues the way they want, accomplishing the goals that matter most to them, and doing it in a way that maximizes their equity - that's always my target outcome."
Recently, Dean conducted a 219 +/- acre transaction that total $3,200,000, and was also part of a sale in Jasper County that total $4,230,000.
Additional Information
Dean lives in eastern Tippecanoe County, just outside Lafayette, Indiana, with his wife, Joanna. They have three sons, Jake, Bryce, and Drew. Dean is a member of Crestview Christian Church in Lafayette, a graduate of the Lafayette Leadership Program, and coached 7th and 8th grade basketball at Lafayette Christian School when his sons were young. An avid supporter of Purdue University, its sports teams, and its College of Agriculture, he participates in Purdue's mentoring programs and its Agricultural Sales and Marketing educational programs.
