Farmland, Indiana
Mark Smithson is a Real Estate Broker and Auction Manager with Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company, specializing in farmland and recreational auctions and listings across East Central Indiana. Mark Smithson was raised on a dairy cattle farm in Randolph County, Indiana, where his family also raised hay, soybeans, and wheat. He spent ten years in 4-H and went through FFA, and he still farms today. He graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Marketing.
Mark joined Schrader in 1999 and serves as a Sale Manager for the company, becoming a licensed Real Estate Broker that same year. Before joining Schrader, he worked at a brokerage firm selling and trading stocks and spent three years with Farm Credit Services - experience that gives him a strong understanding of markets, finance, and agricultural lending.
In more than 25 years with Schrader, Mark has handled many farm sales across East Central Indiana, including the Dale and Nina Lee auction in 2014, a landmark sale at that time, and the David Sprong auction in 2025 which totaled over $9,000,000 on 535 +/- acres.
"George Washington once said he'd rather be on his farm than be emperor of the world, and I understand that feeling," Mark says. "We always strive to do our best to achieve the best possible outcome for our clients."
Mark lives in Randolph County, Indiana, with his wife, Beth. They have five children and ten grandchildren. Mark serves as a trustee at his church and is involved in local ag days. Outside of work, he enjoys farming, spending time with family, traveling, golf, and basketball.
