252.8 Acre Grant County Farm Sells for $3,468,000 at Auction
POTOSI, Wis. (August 14, 2026) - 252.8+/- acres in Grant County, Wisconsin, sold for $3,468,000 with Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company conducting the event. The property was offered in six tracts, and one buyer purchased the entire offering.
"This result reflects the quality and diversity of this land," said R.D. Schrader, president of Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company. "With nearly 98 percent of the tillable acres in Fayette Silt Loam soils, combined with pasture, recreational land, and a farmstead, this property offered something for nearly every type of buyer. In the end, one buyer recognized the value of keeping it all together."
Forty-seven bidders registered for the auction, representing six states: Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Wisconsin. Auction manager Chris Hoffman reported strong in-person turnout at the Holiday Gardens Event Center in Potosi, where the auction was conducted live on August 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM Central time.
The farm was offered in six tracts ranging from 10.8 to 80.4 acres. Tract 5 included the farmstead, a 4-bedroom farmhouse, a two-car garage, seven outbuildings and two grain bins on 10.8 acres. Tract 6 offered 32.3 acres of pasture noted for its abundance of walnut trees and a potential home building site along Dutch Hollow Road. Tracts 1 through 4 combined highly productive Fayette Silt Loam tillable land with pasture, woods and recreational features, including strong deer hunting throughout the farm. All six tracts sold together for a total of $3,468,000.
"This farm had a little bit of everything, row crop land, pasture, recreational acreage, and a farmstead," said Chris Hoffman, auction manager. "That combination is what drew such a diverse group of bidders, and it's ultimately what led to one buyer stepping up to take the whole property."
